Welcome to the Chemical Engineering Website

Chemical Engineering is one of the five disciplines which make up the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Our taught programme in Chemical Engineering, leading to a BEng or MEng qualification, is recognised throughout the UK. Many of our graduate engineers find employment in the energy sector with the global energy companies and the smaller but essential specialised consultancies.
Heriot Watt is the premier Chemical Engineering Department in Scotland for research with over two-thirds of our Research outputs being ranked as ‘World leading’ or ‘Internationally excellent’ in the 2008 Reseach Assessment Exercise.
Our research activities are broad, with activities including molecular simulation, nano-scale structures, bio-separation, biotechnology, advanced catalysis, novel chemical and bio-reactors through to larger scale crystallisation and technologies supporting the oil and gas sector.

StudentsIf you are visiting this site as a hopeful student, then I would follow the links on the Undergraduate Information button which will tell you more about the programme, the courses and a whole range of useful information about the teaching environment.
Research/Industry For new visitors interested in our research, I direct you to the Research Section – divided into thematic areas encompassing our research activities. If you cannot find what you are looking for then please email me directly.
Postgraduate StudentsIf anyone is visiting as a postgraduate student then you should look at the Graduate Studies section which links directly to the postgraduate prospectus pages. For anyone interested in joining one of our research activities then my advice is to follow the links in the Research Section and contact the activity leader. |
